Glandwr Farmhouse is a spacious, newly renovated, stone Grade II Listed Farmhouse on the banks of the River Nevern. This magical property, which manages to combine traditional appeal with modern luxury, has its own enclosed 1.5 acre garden and river frontage and is set in our own 30 acre wooded valley with access to a network of enchanting riverside walks and over ½ mile of productive fishing rights. This is the perfect retreat, in a picture-postcard setting.
As you arrive at the bottom of the winding private driveway down to our Cwm Tawel properties, this stunning and lovingly renovated four bedroom Farmhouse appears in splendid isolation. It sits in the most idyllic of locations, surrounded by acres of our own wooded valley and farmland, and bordered by the River Nevern at its garden’s edge.
The main entrance to the property is through a charming stable door which leads you into the tiled entrance hallway, perfect for kicking off those wet waders or muddy walking boots after a day exploring the surrounding footpaths and woodland. To the right of the entrance hall is the beautifully built, fitted farmhouse-style kitchen offering every up-to-date facility to encourage a blissful break away and bring the romance back to your cooking, including a large modern range. To the left of the front stable door is a utility room with all the necessary washing and drying facilities, the ideal place for your outdoor wear – or your wet dog – to dry out. There is also a separate old fashioned ‘loo with a throne’. You start relaxing from the moment you arrive, with every attention to detail and all the home comforts you could possibly wish for provided.
Spanning the back of the property, and straight through the entrance hallway, you will find the heart of the cottage: a large open-plan sitting and dining room with ample space for every occasion. The focal point of this room is the solid oak 12-seater dining table, making those family gatherings all the more enjoyable. The welcoming atmosphere extends to the spacious seating area, where there is plenty of room for everyone to spread out on the large sofas and enjoy the warmth from the huge original inglenook fireplace with its log-burning stove. To make the house even more “toasty warm” when it’s cold outside there is underfloor heating throughout, both upstairs and downstairs. Each room has been lovingly decorated and furnished with locally-sourced antiques, and there is a wealth of original paintings by local artists on the walls.
Through the main room there is a charming and spacious second sitting room, with two large sofas (one a king-sized sofabed), a freestanding log burner, and its own TV – perfect for those cosy evenings or a quiet retreat from the rest of the group. Both rooms have blissful views over the private lawned garden, while on the other side you can step out onto the large secluded patio for those alfresco meals or barbecues using the family-sized gas BBQ. A short walk over the lawn takes you down to the river where you can enjoy a stroll along the riverbank or a day’s fishing (which needs to be booked separately). With well over an acre of garden, completely enclosed by fences and the river, children and dogs have plenty of freedom and space to play, explore and let off steam.
Upstairs there are four spacious and welcoming en-suite bedrooms, each as delightful as the next. The quality of the decor and homely touches continue throughout each beautifully laid-out room, with solid wooden bedsteads, superbly comfortable mattresses, crisp white sheets and luxurious pure cotton throws. The exposed beams in the eaves and original cottage features add to the charm and character of each room. Three of the double bedrooms (the largest with its own TV) have king-sized beds and an en-suite bathroom with bath and walk-in shower. The fourth bedroom has a full-sized bunk bed and an additional single bed, with an en-suite shower room. All have plenty of hanging space.
The coastal town of Newport is a little over 2 miles away, with its excellent shops, pubs and restaurants. The superb long golden beach at Newport Sands (dog-friendly all year round) is a similar distance away. In the other direction lies the picturesque village of Nevern (just over 20 minutes’ walk), with its Norman Church, famous Weeping Yew, Celtic Cross and popular village pub The Trewern Arms, which is also dog-friendly.
Nature lovers, ramblers and birdwatchers will enjoy exploring the surrounding footpaths where they will find a variety of birds and wildlife, including herons, kingfishers, woodpeckers, nuthatches, dippers, badgers, otters, and possibly even a red squirrel. The bird table is a constant source of delight, and you can pick herbs from your own herb trough outside the kitchen window.
The farmhouse, set in its own large private and enclosed garden, is close to Dyffryn Tawel and Glantawel, and is perfect for dog owners, walkers and families. It is also ideal for larger groups looking to rent all three properties together, for an idyllic & special gathering.
Special care is needed with children at our Cwm Tawel properties. The River Nevern flows alongside the gardens, approximately 35 yards from the cottages.

This is our first time in the farmhouse & we truly feel like Lord & Lady of the Manor! You are an amazing host we have enjoyed every moment!

Another year staying at Glandwr. Beautiful weather for October. See you next year!
The accommodation was great. Definitely home from home and hard to leave at the end of the week. We will definitely return!
As a fisherman it was brilliant to have a salmon and sea trout river running through the garden. My son caught his first salmon here, weighing 8lbs, having caught a 9lb sea bass earlier in the day.
Perfect week and would definitely like to come back next year, if not leave London and move to Newport forever!
Perfectly relaxing week in a beautiful spot. The farmhouse itself is wonderfully comfortable and cosy, yet luxuriously fitted with pretty fancy gadgets.
As a family we love to cook- the kitchen's fab! So well equipped - we ate and drank like kings!
What a great find! "A real gem" All we could wish for and more, the perfect chill out holiday in such tranquil countryside.
Glandwr is finished to a very high standard and is spacious but very cosy with artwork adorning the walls in each room. The attention to detail was fantastic

“Absolutely superb property in wonderful location” We couldn't have made a better choice than this excellently appointed holiday home...Highly recommended.
My wife and I have rented holiday lets in this country and Europe since 1997, and this property has been by far the best...it ticked every box possible all you could need and more. A wonderful setting with the river at the bottom of the garden.stepping into the house you immediately feel at home. Our children were never bored, with so much to explore around the grounds of the house/ river and Pembrokeshire itself. It was 5 star all the way....
