Dyffryn Tawel is a spacious, enchanting white stone cottage in its own magical garden. Set on the edge of our 30 acres of woodland and farmland, it is surrounded by a colourful mix of mature deciduous and evergreen trees and beautiful shrubs. Tastefully renovated, superbly decorated and beautifully furnished, it offers more than a hint of paradise. Right on the bank of the River Nevern, the cottage enjoys over ½ mile of productive fishing rights as well as fabulous walks along the river.
This idyllic cottage has to be seen to be believed! Its peaceful setting, between a meandering wooded footpath and the unspoilt riverbank, is perfect for dog owners, walkers and families. Being close to Glandwr & Glantawel it is also ideal for larger groups looking to take all three properties together for a special gathering.
The sitting room has a full-length picture window on the gable end under an A-frame beamed ceiling, which with its subtle lighting brings the beautiful outdoors right into the room. Filled with large comfortable sofas in natural colours, this room exudes style and luxury. The focal point is a recessed log burner, while local original paintings and numbered prints on the walls add to the calm, peaceful atmosphere. Leading off through bespoke French doors is the dining room, with its large accommodating pine table seating 8. Another set of glass doors extends across the whole of its exterior wall and, when thrown open, lets in even more light and fresh air from the garden. Every meal of the day is accompanied by birdsong and the sounds of the river. Beyond the dining room is an elevated patio, and 3 steps below that is an extensive lawn dotted with mature shrubs and rare trees. Here children can tire themselves out in the evening while you fire up the large gas barbecue, enjoy a game of croquet, or simply sit and absorb the scents and sounds of this magical place.
The very spacious kitchen has low energy lighting, a quarry tile floor, high quality units, a Belfast sink, an American-style fridge freezer with ice-maker, and a cooking range to inspire any budding chef. This cosy room also has a seating area with armchairs and a table, so there is no need for the chef to be alone. Off the kitchen is a utility room complete with washing and drying facilities, and on the other side the front door leads to the path and parking area.
The ground floor bedrooms are decorated in natural tones and complemented by an array of paintings and prints on the walls. The master bedroom has a king-size bed with a luxuriously comfortable mattress, white linen and pure cotton throws, and an en-suite bathroom with bath and walk-in shower, a separate wc and lovely views of the garden. The twin and bunk bedrooms are just as cosy, fresh and bright, with the same wonderful views. There is also a family bathroom with bath and walk-in shower.
On the first floor you will find another double bedroom under the eaves, with a welcoming king-size bed and all the luxuries of the master bedroom, including an en-suite bathroom with bath and walk-in shower allowing you the choice of a quick shower before the day gets going or a long, leisurely soak in the evening.
Within the cottage grounds, a stroll along the river’s edge will refresh and delight. Here there are ducks, herons and busy dippers fishing for their next meal, brightly coloured kingfishers darting over the water, and small brown trout drawing the attention of resident otters. Or a saunter through our woodland may reveal birds you have never come across at home: you’ll almost certainly catch sight of woodpeckers and nuthatches and very occasionally a rare red squirrel dancing through the trees. You may even see a fox, or perhaps a badger or two, on the cottage boundary. The bird table with its frequent visitors never fails to delight, and you can pick herbs for your your own table from the herb trough outside your front door. This is, irrefutably, a rambler’s heaven, a fisherman’s dream, a place for family bonding time, and another dimension to a child’s education. A silent retreat and somewhere to reconnect with yourself – you Experience Môr than you bargain for in this tranquil paradise.
Unsurprisingly, Dyffryn Tawel has proved immensely popular with our guests. If you would love a taste of paradise in this idyllic cottage with its magical garden, make sure you book early!
The coastal town of Newport is a little over 2 miles away, with its excellent shops, pubs and restaurants. The superb long golden beach at Newport Sands (dog-friendly all year round) is a similar distance. In the other direction lies the picturesque village of Nevern (just over 20 minutes’ walk) with its Norman Church, famous Weeping Yew, Celtic Cross and its popular village pub The Trewern Arms, which is also dog-friendly. Fishing for salmon and sea trout should be reserved in advance of arrival.
Special care is needed with children at our Cwm Tawel properties as the River Nevern flows alongside the gardens, approximately 35 yards from the cottages.

Never been in such a well-equipped and homely rental home. Jonathan, you made us feel like house guests, not rental clients.
Another gem in the 'Experience-Môr' portfolio. This is the third property we have stayed in and it did not disappoint us.
Our dog had his first swim in the river and loved it! Lovely seeing the bats and the wildlife. Thank you :)
Very pleasant location. Accommodation excellent. Nice walks along the river bank.
Heavenly couple of weeks, desolate to be leaving paradise.
“Relaxing.” Jonathan, thank you very much for our stay and we will be returning with my family as soon as we can!
“A tranquil springtime hideaway.” The cottage was everything we hoped for - warm, cosy and comfortable with many luxurious touches.
“A true gem of a cottage” The previous reviewers have mentioned it all, whether it is the highest quality of the content and fittings, the wonderful setting, the gardens and river, the peace and quiet (with the exception of the local owl population), the welcome we received on arrival or the helpfulness of the owner and his staff.
"Relaxing" I stayed at Dyffryn Tawel for 3 nights and 4 days. I have been to many lodges/cottages across northern England/wales and this is by far and away, the best one!
